New York, NY – Jewelers of America (JA), the national trade association for businesses serving the fine jewelry marketplace, and the GEM Awards Committee have announced that Tiffany & Co. will be the recipient of the Special Recognition Award and the GEM Award for Jewelry Style will be presented to Academy Award nominated and Emmy Award, Grammy, Tony winner Cynthia Erivo. The GEM Awards, taking place on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City, will also feature awards in the categories of Jewelry Design, Media Excellence, Retail Excellence and Lifetime Achievement.

GEM Awards honors individuals and brands whose work raises the visibility and status of fine jewelry and watches. Each GEM Award honoree and nominee has achieved excellence in their respective field. The Special Recognition Award is a new award, created by the GEM Awards Committee to shine a spotlight on a historic accomplishment by a person or brand. The GEM Award for Jewelry Style is given to an individual who increases consumer desire for jewelry through wearing fine jewelry.

“The completion of Tiffany’s holistic four-year-long interior renovation of the Fifth Avenue location, rechristened The Landmark, was the biggest jewelry event of the last year and ignited enthusiasm around the world to visit and shop at the New York City store. The GEM Awards Committee conceived of the Special Recognition Award category in order to acknowledge the achievement in a unique way. We are overjoyed Tiffany is accepting the honor and look forward to celebrating how The Landmark has raised the bar in retail at the GEM Awards,” says GEM Award Committee Chair Marion Fasel.

Fasel continues, “Cynthia Erivo has long captured our attention on the GEM Awards Committee with the imaginative ways she wears jewelry. On the red-carpet, during television appearances and performances on stage, she has shown time and again what a powerful form of personal expression jewelry can be. We are a thrilled beyond measure Cynthia will be accepting the Style prize.”

Special Recognition Award - Tiffany & Co.
New York’s crown jewel; an icon, reborn. Tiffany & Co. reopened open its doors during April 2023. The newly transformed flagship on 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, now known as “The Landmark”, reintroduces the world to a new Tiffany & Co. Custom artwork, never-before-seen jewels and immersive displays define the new Landmark, which is also one of the largest stores in Manhattan. The Landmark marks the luxury retail institution’s first holistic renovation of the store since it first opened its doors in 1940.

Opposing forces define the transformation: old and new, past and future, hidden and revealed treasures. Paying homage to the building’s iconic original structure, the beloved façade with its Atlas statue and clock above the revolving doors was refurbished to honor its original design, while the interiors were completely reimagined into a new world of wonders.

Tiffany & Co., founded in New York City in 1837 by Charles Lewis Tiffany, is a global luxury jeweler synonymous with elegance, innovative design, fine craftsmanship and creative excellence.
